- Ixion Strengthens Its Oxalate-Related Intellectual Property Portfolio

ALACHUA, FL-April 17, 2002- Ixion Biotechnology, Inc., the world leader in oxalate-related disease technology has been issued a new patent (US 6,355,242) relating to the treatment or prevention of oxalate-related disease in animals through the delivery of oxalate-degrading bacteria and enzymes.
- "This complements and strengthens a family of now seven oxalate-related U.S. patents that cover a broad range of therapeutic and diagnostic uses in both humans and non-humans. As Ixion prepares to advance its oxalate-degrading product into the clinic, it is reassuring to achieve a further strengthening of our oxalate-related intellectual property," stated Louis G. Kessler, Ph.D., Ixion's vice president of corporate development. Harmeet Sidhu, Ph.D., vice president and director of research of Ixion's oxalate business unit is a co-inventor of the newly issued patent with Milton J. Allison, Ph.D., of Iowa State University.
